One of the first American rock bands formed in 1973, they are well known for their elaborate sets and antics (fire breathing, blood spitting, smokin’ guitars and the use of pyrotechnics) that earned them quite a following. One of the true rockers of America that has survived many upheavals in their line-up, they have been given many awards with their many songs and perfomances. Some menbers of the band have even performed as late as June 13 2008 when they performed in the Arrow Rock Festival at the Netherlands. The true rock band of the US, their legacy of music and antics lives on in the hearts of their fans. Recently, they have also performed in New Zealand, UK and Australia forever making thier mark as one of the longest running/performing rock bands from the 70’s

Truly one of the best American Metal Bands around that has stood the test of time ever since it was formed way back in the 80’s. They have sold 120 million records globally with 35 million in the US alone, the band continues to wow fans with their unique rock style evident in their current tour. The roots of the band was colorful and seen by many as the true American dream with them starting out young (many former groupo members have formed their own bands) and making it big in the charts. Bon Jovi (true last name, Bongiovi) started out on the radio with “Runaway” that grew bigger and bigger till he decided to form the band from a successful talent pool with Alec John Such, Tico Torres, Dave Sabo(Skid Row and Bon Jovi’s nextdoor neighbor) and Richie Sambora. The band is currently on the Lost Highway Tour that began way back in February in Omaha Nebraska.

With the likes of Chris Rock and Metallica, the Bonnaroo Mucis Festival opened and ended with some of the greatest rockers of all time. The Bonnaroo Music Festival, started out as a simple jam band event that has evolved into one hell of a rock show. Metallica has a slow start with not many hard core fans in the crowed but still managed to woo the crowds with thier humor. Metallica was known to be hard working which showed with them practicing behind the scenes as the show went underway. The show wasn’t quite sold out but that does not go to show that the fans of the many bands weren’t there and they did come by the thousands to hear their loved bands play (which would be cheaper than going to the show) camping around the event to enjoy the music.

Richie Sambora, one of the greatest guitar men at the side of Bon Jovi is currently facing tree years probation after being caught DUI with his daughter in the vehicle with him. His attorney has entered a guilty plea on his behalf signifying the admittance of the artists to the charges levied against him. He is also accused of child endangerment due to his having his daughter with him in the vehicle but was not charged with the crime due to the fact that he wasn’t over speeding and driving too erratic enough to endanger his child. He is to get three years probation plus legal fees and an alcohol education course.

One of the most significant tools of the rock and roll era, the melody maker especially the type used by legend Joan Jett has been in the frontlines of rock and roll ever since. In hopes of reviving interest in classical rock, Jett in collaboration with Gibson USA has released an updated modern version of the nifty rocker tool that is new with a touch of the old. Loaded with memories, the new version has authentic witch hat knobs with a kill switch replacing the Gibson models. They have even included a period-correct vinyl pick guard. Gibson has truly come out a revival of the classic rock and roll guitar loaded with the power of the well renowned brand.

One of the best rock bands today, Radiohead has been around for sixteen years with seven successful albums. The band has been thankful for the support of their loyal fans who have been there for them ever since they made their first album. Their success began with the album “Ok Computer” that managed to break the charts and placed them on the map in the rock and roll arena. Embraced by rock fanatics as the saviors of modern guitar rock, they resurfaced in 2000 with a new rock music style loaded with electronics, few guitars and minimal vocals. They truly are the embodiment of modern rock as they continue to reign as one of the world’s top rock bands.

The rock band which hails from California is going strong with over 50 million copies sold (combined sales) and two Grammy awards. Last Year, they released their third studio album between May 9th and 18th that it went double platinum. There was however one first for the band, this album was also the first one to have the parental advisory warning label that says it has explicit language. Diamond certified by the RIAA in 2005, the band continues their streak into becoming one of the best modern rock bands ever to hail form the US. They are going strong with their strong fan base and music that truly rocks.

Ever heard the old saying that you should turn down the music or you’ll kill your ears, guess what happened to Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood while they were recording their latest album, he became deaf (temporarily thank God!). Why you might ask? Well, apparently he wore the wrong type of headphones as they were recording the album in the studio that left him quite deaf that it took him quite sometime to regain partial hearing. Rock music is after all about noise and lots of it, but what happened to him was quite ironic for the genre is known for its loud and seemingly random music that sends you into a head banging mood. He blamed his deafness to a pair of inappropriate headphones.
